Boys can be fairies too!
He's admiring the beauty of the last blossom of the autumn season, a bright burst of contrasting color in a brown and orange and red world! He is nameless as of yet.
I have been working on this since...March or April or something. In between commissions and work. Hoping that I'd have it finished by fall so that it would put me in a lovely fall mood. And I did! It took way too long!
I wanted to go for something different with the wings, not just the regular butterfly or moth wings, so I went with dragonfly wings. They can be so beautiful and strange!
Having lived in Hawaii/California/Australia for my whole life, I haven't had much chance to see leaves change color, much less know what maple leaves look like, so this was a bit of a challenge. I've only seen acorns once or twice in my life, so I apologize to all acorn enthusiasts! Google can only help so much!
Mushrooms are one of my favorite things to paint/draw..
For the positioning/muscles of the fairy, I took some reference photos of my boyfriend before he left for the UK. He has the perfect body type for this fairy!
I could probably fiddle with this painting forever and ever but I needed it to be DONE so it won't keep distracting me! After I finish my kiribans and other projects, I will probably do a winter painting since I've now done a summer and a fall one. Any suggestions for a mythical creature (since I did a mermaid and now a fairy) would be awesome!
EDIT: arrrggg once again the internet has done something awful to the colors in my painting!! The colors are much brighter in "real life" and I am going to kill whoever decided to make things so difficult!!
